Golden State Warriors: 3 Final-chance free agents to consider
By Tony Pesta
Carmelo Anthony
It’s a bit of a surprise that Carmelo Anthony still hasn’t been signed at this point in the summer.
He went through a saga of being ignored by the NBA a few years ago but had seemingly redeemed himself with strong performances in Portland and Los Angeles.
Last season, Anthony averaged 13 points per game while shooting above 37% from the 3-point line.
How Anthony helps
You can’t expect Anthony to fill the same 3-and-D role as Otto Porter Jr. did for the Dubs but Anthony can serve as a catch-and-shoot threat who can put the ball on the deck and score for the second unit.
Playing a similar role to Nemanja Bejlica, there is much to get excited about a potential Anthony signing. On a night where he is particularly hot, a lineup featuring Anthony and the Splash Brothers would be pure joy.
