Golden State Warriors: 3 Jordan Poole replacements to consider
By Tony Pesta
Jordan Clarkson
The 2020-21 Sixth Man of the Year, Jordan Clarkson is as close to Jordan Poole as you’ll find in the NBA.
They’re both high-usage bench players who specialize in scoring the ball. Clarkson’s herky-jerky handle, crafty finishes in the paint and silky smooth pull-up jumper make him a spitting image of Poole.
One thing that makes Clarkson an attractive option is he’s already a proven sixth man. He’s found success in the NBA and the Warriors would know exactly what they are getting themselves into.
An issue emerges, though.
Clarkson is far from the playmaker that Poole is. Specifically, he’s a reluctant passer — something that won’t bode well for the team-oriented Warriors.
This doesn’t mean Clarkson would refuse to buy into the system but it’s something to keep in mind.
The other problem is financial. Clarkson will be making $27 million across the next two seasons. At this rate, the Dubs are better off working a reasonable deal with Poole in the same price range rather than starting from scratch with JC.
