The Golden State Warriors have a number of interesting prospects and veterans all competing for their final roster spot this September.

On Tuesday, Shams Charania and Anthony Slater confirmed multiple veteran free agents would be working out with the Dubs this week.

In a story for The Athletic, Charania and Slater listed four players who would be getting workouts along with a few others who have already trained with Golden State this summer.

Confirmed veteran free agents who have worked out with Warriors this summer:

  • Ben McLemore
  • Kenneth Faried
  • Elfrid Payton
  • Rondae Hollis-Jefferson
  • Shabazz Muhammad
  • Solomon Hill
  • Tyler Cook
  • Kelan Martin

This list is just the tip of the iceberg, as lesser-known names such as Miye Oni, Ty-Shon Alexander, Wesley Saunders and Jon Axel Gudmundsson have all worked out with the Dubs, as well.

If that wasn’t enough, the Warriors already have a group of young prospects like Mac McClung, Jerome Robinson, Trevion Williams and Pat Spencer jockeying to be that final roster spot.

That is… if a spot is even available.

The Dubs have already promised a roster spot to Andre Iguodala, who would put the roster at 14 players. This leaves one vacancy to fill — but the Warriors could choose to leave the 15th spot open in an attempt to cut costs.

The Golden State Warriors will be witnessing an all-out war in training camp as they look to potentially fill their final roster spot.

Any one of these players could shock the franchise with a sturdy performance in training camp. This final roster spot is nothing to scoff at, considering the massive contributions names like Gary Payton II and Juan Toscano-Anderson managed to bring the Dubs under similar circumstances recently.

My personal favorite to watch is McClung, a fiery young point guard who could fill GP2’s role.

On the veteran side of things, McLemore is the best available option. A capable defender and 3-point shooter, McLemore is the quintessential Warriors’ role player.

Exactly who claims the final spot will all be determined in the coming weeks as an all-out war commences. May the best man win.

Next. This Warriors rival could steal Andrew Wiggins. dark
