It’s a bit surprising to see the 2022-23 NBA season is already upon us but the Golden State Warriors better sober up quickly and prepare for another grueling campaign.

The road back to the NBA Finals is always a tough one. In this game, your accomplishments are forgotten as soon as the next game starts.

With opening night on the horizon, Golden State has numerous hurdles to overcome. Can they replicate their success from last season? Is the dynasty really alive or was this just a flash in the pan?

Whatever it may be — they can’t afford to be distracted by the ongoing contract negotiations that loom over half of this core.

The Golden State Warriors have enough to worry about as they embark on another journey to the NBA Finals, contract concerns can wait.

Anyone who was awake this summer noticed a financial storm brewing in the Bay. Key players such as Jordan Poole, Andrew Wiggins and Draymond Green are looking for a way to get paid.

For many teams, this can weigh down a potential championship run. The Warriors know this all too well, with Kevin Durant’s 2019 decision acting as a constant burden during their attempt at a three-peat.

This time around, the Warriors seem to be more focused. Wiggins told reporters he’s only thinking about basketball while his agents will handle the rest.

Poole and Green both reflected this sentiment in their pressers.

None of this should surprise anyone. After all, would it be smart for one of these guys to say anything else? It’s a business and part of the game is keeping it cool when discussing your future.

Still, the Warriors have to navigate this season without tripping on any land mines. A rough patch of games could send them down a spiral that nobody wants to imagine at this point in the year.

Trade rumors will almost certainly follow as the heat increases but with any luck, the Dubs will manage to avoid distraction and remain firmly planted on the goal ahead.
