After a slow start on offense, the Golden State Warriors heated up late in the second quarter and went nuclear in the 3rd quarter to have a 20-point cushion at one point.

When the Los Angeles Lakers made a mini-run, Steph Curry went on a ridiculous stretch to bury the Lakers and officially send the Dubs into a 1-0 start.

Well, with a 123-109 win against the Los Angeles Lakers, the Golden State Warriors 2022-2023 season got off to a bang.

Let’s dive into some quick takeaways from the game.

MV3 for Stephen Curry?

The night was a memorable one for Curry and the Warriors as it opened with him receiving his fourth championship ring but he also passed Chris Mullin for most seasons played in franchise history. Well, he opened the season on a high note.

Curry had a slow start to the game on shooting. He started off 1-7 from the field before adjusting his offensive approach and focusing more on getting to the rim.

From then he started to heat up shooting and after his shot started falling he started branching out, hitting his first 3-pointer late in the 3rd and from there he didn’t look back. It all culminated in a brilliant where he made a 3, had an impressive layup on Anthony Davis and then drained another three to put the Lakers away.

While he’s getting up in age, his physical decline has been a graceful one, if you could even notice it. His defense was on point today, racking up 4 steals and a block. He rebounded the ball well, hauling in 6 boards. He also distributed the ball well, dishing out 7 assists. It’s just one game, and it’s always good to wait and temper claims about a full season, but if he plays at the level we’re accustomed to seeing him play, a 3rd MVP might be in his sights.
