Golden State Warriors seek to sweep home stand against struggling Indiana Pacers

With the best home record in the NBA at 11-1, the Golden State Warriors are poised to add to the Indiana Pacers’ struggles on the road when the two teams meet at Chase Center on Monday night.

The Pacers have now lost four of their last five after a 116-100 defeat to the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday. Meanwhile, the Warriors will attempt to add to their two-game winning streak and complete a clean sweep of their three-game home stand.

As much as the Golden State Warriors have struggled on the road this season, Chase Center continues to be a place opposing teams should fear to tread.

Steve Kerr’s revamped second unit has shown signs they can not only hold a lead, but also add to it while the starters are resting on the bench. With Draymond Green providing the leadership and Andrew Wiggins contributing limited minutes, the emergence of Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody, and improved consistency from Jordan Poole, the Warriors are on their way to correcting bench issues and correcting a poor road record. The team from The Bay is showing signs they can compete for another title. The Utah Jazz will be the test on Wednesday night.

The Warriors torched the Chicago Bulls and Houston Rockets from beyond the arc in the first two game of this home stand, but players like Poole, Kuminga and superstar Stephen Curry might need to make a concerted effort to get to the rim against the Pacers.

Myles Turner is one of the best rim protectors in the league, averaging 2.5 blocks per game. On-ball defense for Golden State will be important in limiting rising star Tyrese Haliburton who is averaging 19 points and ten assists per game. It’s also important to acknowledge his ability to disrupt passing lanes, with his 1.8 steals per game ranking fourth in the league.

Before their current slide, the Pacers had been one of the surprise packets of the season. To be fair they still have been, holding a 12-11 record and sitting sixth in the Eastern Conference. The Warriors too are sixth in the Western Conference at 13-11, and chalking up another win will be vital on Monday night.
