The Golden State Warriors, recipients of the Larry O’Brien Trophy four of the last eight years, take to the road for six-straight away games over the next ten days. Sitting with a precarious 14-13 record, it projects as a defining moment for the reigning NBA champions.

With stops in Milwaukee, Indianapolis, Philadelphia, Toronto, Canada, and New Jersey, Golden State face their most challenging period of the 2022-23 schedule to date. However, the Warriors produced something they can take with them from Saturday’s 123-107 win over the Boston Celtics.

The Golden State Warriors’ championship character was displayed early Saturday evening in a marquee game against the avenged-minded Boston Celtics.

To the delight of most at a sold-out crowd in attendance at Chase Center, and a nationally televised audience poised on their couches, the Warriors retained their dominance over the team they defeated in last season’s NBA Finals. It was a continuation of Golden State’s home form where they have an equal league-leading 12-2 record, however, they remain a dismal 2-11 away from Chase Center.

The team on the floor against the Celtics was perhaps the best version of the defending champions we’ve seen this season. It’s an important sign for Steve Kerr who’ll look to translate that display into improved performances on the road.

The Warriors were largely absent of turnovers, also doing a terrific job of being physical without committing untimely foolish fouls that have so far plagued their season. That included a stellar job on Celtics star and MVP candidate Jayson Tatum, with Golden State’s grit and determination certainly qualities that have been lacking in their efforts on the road this season.

In his post-game interview, Kerr praised emerging star Jonathan Kuminga, the readiness of Moses Moody, and the leadership of the team’s veteran core. Kerr will remind his team to pack the same mindset of Saturday evening’s victory before boarding the team plane on Monday morning.

With their backs to the wall, the defending champions begin their latest adventure on the road with a visit to Fiserv Forum and the Milwaukee Bucks. The Warriors’ goal should be to return home winning three of the six games at the very least, before another marquee matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies at Chase Center on Christmas Day.
