A host of the 2022 free agent draft class will become trade eligible on December 15, opening up the possibility of major moves around the NBA between then and the February 9 trade deadline. That includes the Golden State Warriors who will be permitted to trade veteran offseason acquisitions in Donte DiVincenzo and JaMychal Green.

The Golden State Warriors’ will hold further flexibility when Donte DiVincenzo and JaMychal Green become trade eligible on December 15.

According to ESPN’s front office insider Bobby Marks, 89% of the league will be eligible to be traded from December 15, up from the current mark of 73%. There’s yet to be a mid-season trade through nearly two months, but expect that to change as we hit Christmas and the New Year.

DiVincenzo signed a two-year, $9 million contract (second-year player option) during the offseason, proving a vital acquisition following an early hamstring injury. The 25-year-old is a key two-way presence next to Jordan Poole in the second unit, and even helped close Saturday night’s win over the Boston Celtics.

While it’s extremely unlikely that he’s utilized in a trade, DiVincenzo may have to be used as salary filler given he’s the only Warrior, outside Kevon Looney and the trio of recent lottery picks, making more than the minimum but less than $10 million.

Green is a different story, with his place in the rotation becoming more precarious by the game. The 32-year-old spent an early part of the season outside Steve Kerr’s plans, but has since returned as Golden State’s backup five with third-year center James Wiseman in the G League.

He’s hardly solidified his position though, shooting a deplorable 18.9% from three-point range and offering very little but a veteran presence on either end of the floor. Green has little to no value on the trade market, and his one-year, $2.6 million contract can really only be used as salary filler. He could also be a threat of being waived should the Warriors find a worthy buyout candidate — ironic given they picked up Green only after being waived by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the offseason.

While opposing teams won’t be clamouring over themselves to percolate interest in DiVincenzo or Green, their trade eligibility does provide a little more flexibility for a Golden State roster many fans believe needs an adjustment prior to the deadline.
