The Golden State Warriors produced a crucial 126-110 win over the Toronto Raptors at Scotiabank Arena on Sunday, but they did so with just over five minutes of gametime from exciting second-year forward Jonathan Kuminga.

Kuminga’s absence in the second-half had many fans disappointed with Steve Kerr, with the 20-year-old’s recent form otherwise solidifying his spot in the Warriors’ rotation. However, it turns out there was a reason behind Kuminga’s low playing time.

Golden State Warriors’ Jonathan Kuminga has some left knee soreness that’s left him as probable for Tuesday’s matchup with the New York Knicks.

The explosive wing looked unimpeded during his five minutes in the first-half, but clearly there was an injury issue that prevented Kuminga from seeing the floor afterwards. Golden State didn’t provide an update during or following the game, with his name not coming up during Steve Kerr’s post-game press conference.

Kuminga has now been listed on the injury report as probable with left knee soreness for Tuesday’s game in New York. The same can be said for sharpshooter Klay Thompson who will again likely sit on one side of the upcoming back-to-back.

Unfortunately for the Warriors, Andrew Wiggins is again listed as out as he continues his recovery from an adductor strain. Stephen Curry’s shoulder injury clearly hasn’t had any impact on the timeline for Wiggins as management prioritize a full recovery for the 27-year-old Canadian. On the positive side of things, Draymond Green is officially off the injury report having battled with a quad contusion over recent games.

Kuminga’s defense could prove vitally important against the Knicks, and even more so the following day against the Brooklyn Nets. With Wiggins out, he could foreseeably see time guarding ex-Warrior Kevin Durant in a mouth-watering challenge.
