Ahead of a much-anticipated clash against the Memphis Grizzlies on Christmas Day, the Golden State Warriors have stumbled out of the blocks with a 15-18 record to start the 2022-23 NBA season.

The underwhelming beginning, and a current shoulder injury for superstar Stephen Curry, has led to wavering confidence levels on the Warriors capacity to get back to the NBA Finals for a remarkable seventh time in nine seasons. However, it seems not everyone has jumped off the reigning NBA champions.

Betting odds for the NBA’s Western Conference suggests the Golden State Warriors remain poised to make another run throughout the playoffs.

Despite sitting 11th in the West and with a playoff position far from assured, the Warriors remain as one of the favourites to come out of the conference. That starts with Caesars Sportsbook where Golden State are an equal-favourite +400 to win the West. They sit alongside the Los Angeles Clippers, while the Phoenix Suns are +500.

The Warriors are consistently third in favouritism behind the Suns and Clippers with most other major bookmakers. Their Christmas Day opponents, Memphis, are generally fourth-favourite, with the Denver Nuggets being fifth-favourite despite currently holding the West’s best record at 20-11.

It would take a brave man to bet against Golden State given their immense playoff experience. They’ve won a road playoff game in a league-record 27-straight series, an ironic statistic given their current road woes where they’re a league-worst 3-16 this season.

The other major factor is the startling parody currently witnessed in the West. The Warriors are just three games back from the sixth-seed, and six games back from the Nuggets in the first-seed, showcasing one of the most compact standings in recent memory. No team is yet to separate themselves and emphatically put their hand up as the unequivocal favourite in the West, providing reason for optimism should the Warriors turn their form around.

dark. Next. Golden State Warriors pay ridiculous overs in proposed Raptors trade

Golden State begin an eight-game homestand when they face the Grizzlies, and there’s no doubt everyone will have a greater read on their chances once this next stretch concludes and we officially hit the halfway point of the season.
