The following was first written in August 2020. This is an estimation of the Golden State Warriors’ current and future timeline, backed by 60 years of experience attending games and following the franchise through up-and-downs.

Part one was released here yesterday, with a projection and then reflection on what the Warriors achieved last season.

The ‘Game of Thrones’ will begin as the leaders of the Golden State Warriors take new positions in the franchise’s quest for sustained success.

On or before the end of the 2024 season, Bob Myers will relinquish his general managers’ responsibilities, retaining his position as President of Basketball Operations while assuming Joe Lacob’s duties in the Warriors’ front office. This event will trigger current head coach, Steve Kerr, to become the new general manager, with his assistant, Kenny Atkinson, to become the new Head Coach of the Golden State Warriors. Kerr has experience as a general manager thanks to his time in Phoenix during the 2000’s.

This “Game of Thrones” began when Atkinson was sacked as head coach of the Brooklyn Nets in place of Steve Nash. Kerr convinced Atkinson to take a lead assistant coaching position, forming an excellent trio with Mike Brown before his departure to the Sacramento Kings as head coach.

Atkinson was an admirer of Kerr’s offensive schemes and had some success with a similar style during his Brooklyn tenure. Would he be the right choice? The move may come as early as the expiration date of Klay Thompson and Draymond Green’s contracts, although it may then come to Kerr deciding the future of Golden State’s ageing stars.

Myers will assume more operational responsibilities while reducing Joe Lacob’s role with a door plaque equal to Brandon Schnieders’. Myers’ final completion will be with the addition of another Larry O’Brien Trophy delivered to the trophy case. James Wiseman, Andrew Wiggins, Jonathan Kuminga, Moses Moody and Jordan Poole will head into their dynasty with Curry, Green, and Thompson providing the veteran leadership to guide it.

Next. What record do the Golden State Warriors need on their eight-game homestand?. dark

The final result: Kerr leaves the bench for Myers’ old office as Anderson slips into Kerr’s seat on the bench. Green decides to retire, the conclusion of a Hall of Fame career, to pursue a relationship with Turner Broadcasting Corporation. Kerr extends Thompson to join Curry for the final curtain call of this dynasty. The vision for the conclusion of Curry and Thompson’s Hall of Fame careers are unclear, but the vision for the next dynasty is crystal as the Warriors seeks more championship titles.
