Christmas with the Golden State Warriors was engraved in a lifetime of memories — A gift from the defending champions to their loyal fanbase which DubNation remain hopeful will keep on giving. Sunday’s NBA Christmas Classic with the Memphis Grizzlies was perfectly wrapped and relished by a capacity crowd attending at Chase Center and enjoyed by millions from a national television audience.

The Golden State Warriors can ill-afford a similar outcome after their last big win — A mid-December 123-107 victory over the Boston Celtics.

The Warriors failed to backup the win over the Celtics, losing five of their six games in a disastrous road-trip that included losing Stephen Curry to injury. Foolish turnovers, untimely fouls, the inefficiency to close quarters, and the slow development of the team’s young players all contributed to a tough time away from home — An issue that’s plagued the defending champions from the beginning of the season and resulted in a 15-18 record prior to the Grizzlies game.

With seven more games at home following the 123-109 victory over the rival Grizzlies, Golden State enters their most critical stretch on the season schedule. Time has run out for the struggling Warriors to redeem their character and identity, but fans remain hopeful; with the win over Memphis, they have found those winning qualities again.

With a perfect conclusion to their meeting with the Phoenix Suns on January 10th, the Warriors could again be above .500, and with a perfect 8-0 record, would be at 23-18. Using their recovered ‘Strength in Numbers’ motto, the Dubs must run the table for a chance at a top-five seeding in this season’s Western Conference playoffs.

Golden State must not let go of the rope and need to take advantage of being home at Chase Center. With the return of Andrew Wiggins, with the hope of greater consistency from Klay Thompson and Jordan Poole, and increased development and contributions from their young core, the Warriors can steer the ship in the coming weeks until Stephen Curry returns from injury.
