It’s already that time of year for the NBA. Starting January 5th, NBA teams can begin to sign free agents to 10-day contracts. If you are a fan of the NBA, it’s no secret the struggles that the Golden State Warriors have had in their frontcourt.

James Wiseman has been back and forth from the G-league to minimal minutes. The 21-year-old has undoubtedly improved, especially on the defensive end and on the glass, however, he can’t be relied upon for a team looking to repeat as NBA champions.

Jamychal Green has been a rollercoaster this season, dealing with recent injury and sickness issues. This has grown to the point we have even seen rookie 28th overall pick Patrick Baldwin Jr record minutes recently.

Should Bob Myers and the Golden State Warriors take a look at a familiar friend in DeMarcus Cousins on a 10-day contract?

Thankfully for Golden State, Kevon Looney has been an absolute stud for them this season. A true ironman, Looney has recorded 35 rebounds in the last two games, including a game-winning tap-in against the Atlanta Hawks. Not to mention, two-way player Anthony Lamb has made his impact off the bench, although he is undersized for his position. That said, there is always room for help and improvement.

It was announced today that the Los Angeles Lakers would host DeMarcus Cousins for a workout this week. The four-time All-NBA player last played for the Denver Nuggets in the 2021-2022 season and looked like he had some juice left in the tank.

Cousins appeared for the Warriors in the 2018-2019 season, looking to revive his career and even compete for a championship. After appearing in 30 games for the Dubs, Boogie averaged 16 points per game. That summer, Cousins signed with the Los Angeles Lakers but was ultimately robbed of that season after tearing his ACL in August 2019.

The Warriors should look at the big man because of his history with Golden State. We all know how complicated a system Steve Kerr likes to run. Cousins brings that knowledge and the ability to set screens, stretch the floor, and rebound the basketball. Don’t forget; he brings a toughness that the Warriors can always use outside Draymond Green.

At the very least, bring Cousins in for a workout to see how he looks. With the limited number of bodies that Golden State has now, I don’t think a 10-day contract is unreasonable to try out the veteran big man.
