Golden State Warriors’ general manager Bob Myers remains unsure of his team’s chances of executing a trade prior to the February 9 trade deadline.

Just when it looked like the reigning champions were building into form with three straight wins, their momentum was abruptly halted on Wednesday when a 14-point fourth-quarter lead turned into an overtime loss against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Don’t expect fireworks from the Golden State Warriors at the trade deadline, with a minor move the likely outcome if Bob Myers does make a trade.

Speaking to 95.7’s Steiny and Guru before Wednesday’s game, Myers admitted he isn’t as comfortable with the Warriors’ roster than he has been in previous seasons.

"“There was years, when the margin of error was so big that I could answer that question and say, ‘No, we don’t need to do anything’…Those rosters and those seasons bore out that way. Our margin of error is not what it was. The record is not what it was. Comparing to what I know about the team’s we’ve had, I’d like to get a bigger margin of error. Can we do it? I dunno.”"

Myers and Golden State are set on a core top six consisting of Stephen Curry, Jordan Poole, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins, Draymond Green and Kevon Looney. Any deal the Warriors make will be for a seventh man at best, leaving the conundrum of whether that’s worth sacrificing one of the team’s recent lottery picks — likely James Wiseman or Moses Moody.

While Myers would like greater margin for error, it appears he and the franchise are comfortable on backing in the veteran core again if need be — “I think we stack up good enough – that’s assuming health”, Myers said.

That’s a dangerous game to play given the workload already placed upon the likes of Green and Looney. However, Myers did also mention the buyout market as a means to upgrading and adding to the roster. Even if Golden State aren’t to make a trade over the next week, they’ll still have a few roster decisions to make before the end of the month.
