Golden State Warriors’ Anthony Lamb puts best foot forward in G League

With the Golden State Warriors’ 15th roster spot potentially up for grabs over the coming weeks, Anthony Lamb is doing all he can to push his case to Bob Myers and the front office.

Signed to a two-way contract at the start of the season, the 25-year-old has been a surprisingly important part of Steve Kerr’s rotation. Having played 42 of a maximum 50 games as a two-way player, Golden State have made Lamb inactive for the last five games in order to preserve his limit.

Golden State Warriors’ Anthony Lamb has returned to Santa Cruz, helping them to a 112-98 win over the Windy City Bulls on Saturday.

Lamb volunteered the assignment to Santa Cruz in order to get some run, according to The Athletics’ Anthony Slater. He played 32 minutes off the bench in the contest at Now Arena, recording 23 points, nine rebounds, three assists and three blocks in his team’s 14-point win.

Lamb shot 10-for-19 from the field including 2-for-6 from three-point range, but shot a uncharacteristic 1-for-6 from the free-throw line. He was also a +11 plus-minus as the Warriors outscored the Bulls 32-21 in the fourth-quarter to run away with the victory.

Golden State rookie Patrick Baldwin Jr. showed impressive signs in a 23-point, nine-rebound performance against the Bulls. The 6’9″ forward got up 13 three-point attempts (making four), while dishing out three assists.

Gui Santos, the Warriors’ 55th selection in last year’s draft, dropped an efficient 17 points off the bench on 6-for-8 shooting (3-for-5 from three). The Brazilian will represent the Warriors at All-Star weekend in the league’s ‘Next Up’ game on February 19.

It’ll be interesting to see when Lamb is recalled to the Golden State rotation, though one can expect it won’t be until after the All-Star break. The Warriors have back-to-back games against the Washington Wizards and Los Angeles Clippers on Monday and Tuesday, then have over a week off before facing the Los Angeles Lakers on February 24.
