The Golden State Warriors, at least over the last few years, have been a team that usually gets a ton of attention when it comes to the buyout market. They get the veterans that were making too much money and got cut, so their contracts were bought out.

There were three main players that fans and pundits wanted the Warriors to choose from in the buyout market. Unfortunately, the reigning champions didn’t sign any of them. Those players may be wishing they chose Golden State by the end of the year when the Warriors are potentially hoisting another trophy.

The three guys that made a lot of sense were Kevin Love to add rebounding and shooting to space the floor, Russell Westbrook to come off of the bench and add a spark, and Patrick Beverley for his perimeter defense from the guard position.

Patrick Beverley has chosen to play for the Chicago Bulls, stating that the choice was between his hometown team and the Golden State Warriors.

On the patbevpod Instagram page, Beverley revealed his reason for choosing Chicago over Golden State.

"“It was between Golden State and the Bulls, obviously. It’s always good to play with a lot of great talent in Golden State, but you know they have a lot of guards over there, you know? I figured I can make a playoff push with the Bulls right now, and you know kind of pump them up a little bit. I’m excited man, I’m excited… I get to rep my city on my chest man.”"

Yes, Beverley is from Chicago, even though he played college ball in Arkansas. Sure, you can’t really blame the guy for wanting to go back home, who doesn’t want to do that at some point in their career?

However, he may wish he didn’t make the huge mistake he made. When you are at the stage he’s at in his career, why would you not want to try and win a ring at all costs? The Warriors were his best shot to do so, or at least more so than Chicago, and he blew it.

But in all seriousness, Beverley also mentioned in the clip that he now gets to take his kids to school, so that’s cool, and you have to feel good for the guy. But imagine the number of heads this team would get into with their trash talk and the physical defense led by him and Draymond Green.

I guess we will never know though.
