What Stephen Curry injury update means for Golden State Warriors
The Golden State Warriors have provided a positive injury update on Stephen Curry as the two-time MVP continues his recovery from a lower leg injury.
The 34-year-old injured his left leg during the third-quarter of the Warriors’ February 4 win over the Dallas Mavericks, and has ultimately missed the team’s last five games as a result.
Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry will miss at least the next four games as the team resumes their season after the All-Star break.
On Wednesday the franchise announced that Curry “is making good progress” and will be re-evaluated in a week, with the reigning Finals MVP having begun individual on-court workouts at the Warriors’ training facility.
It means Curry will miss the next at least the next four games as they prepare for a gruelling schedule following the break. Golden State resume their season when they face the Los Lakers at Crypto.com Arena on Thursday.
The Warriors will quickly make the trip back to The Bay for a clash with the Houston Rockets in the second night of a back-to-back on Friday. They also host the Minnesota Timberwolves and Portland Trail Blazers in what shape as pivotal matchups regardless of their best player’s confirmed absence.
There might be optimism that Curry can return for the team’s March 3 clash against the Los Angeles Clippers, though that’s the first night of another back-to-back. Golden State round out a five-game homestand against the Minnesota Timberwolves on March 4.
Curry has missed 20 games this season in a frustrating period for both he and the franchise. Having already spent a 15-game stretch on the sidelines with a shoulder injury from mid-December to early January, his return is imperative to any hopes the Warriors have of repeating as NBA champions. Golden State hold a 9-11 record without Curry this season.
