Golden State Warriors’ superstar Stephen Curry may be universally recognized as the best shooter in professional basketball history, but his splash brother is racking up quite the three-point records himself.

Klay Thompson’s 42 points led the reigning champions to a much-needed 116-101 win over the Houston Rockets on Friday night, with the 33-year-old lighting up Chase Center with another dazzling display of perimeter shooting.

Stephen Curry watched on as Klay Thompson set a plethora of three-point shooting records against the Houston Rockets on Friday.

Thompson drilled 12 of his 17 three-point attempts on the night, the second time he’s hit that mark this month after going 12-for-16 from distance against the Oklahoma City Thunder on February 6. Not only is Thompson the first player to do that, but no one had previously achieved the feat across the course of an entire season. Remarkably, the four-time champion failed to make a single two-point field-goal — setting records for most points and threes without one, according to WarriorsMuse on Twitter.

Thompson now has three games of 12+ made three-pointers in his career, with the 14 he made against the Chicago Bulls in 2019 remaining an NBA single-game record. In doing so he’s split the tie with Curry who has two games of 12+ made threes during his career.

The five-time All-Star used his hot shooting to pour cold water on the Rockets’ second-half comeback effort. After a 17-point lead had been cut to nine with 12 minutes to play, Thompson knocked down four threes in as many minutes to put the result beyond doubt.

While Curry may be the most consistently devastating shooter in NBA history, Friday was yet another example that when he’s on, few if any can match Thompson’s capacity to attach a flamethrower to his picture-perfect jumpshot. Golden State will want plenty more of it while Curry remains sidelined by a left leg injury.
