Former players rank Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry top five in NBA

The reigning Finals MVP and averaging nearly 30 points per game this season on 50/40/90 shooting splits, Golden State Warriors’ superstar Stephen Curry is arguably in career-best from despite being 34 years of age.

Curry remains one of the few players in the league capable of leading his team to a championship, a point he proved during last year’s NBA Finals. Despite battling injury issues this season, he remains a dominant presence as the league’s best and most dangerous three-point shooter.

A survey of 101 former NBA players has seen Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry ranked as the fifth best player in the league.

A report by The Athletics’ David Aldridge and Josh Robbins has divulged who former players think is the best player currently in the league. The poll of 101 ex-players saw 6.6% view Curry as the best player in the NBA, ranked equal-fifth alongside Dallas Mavericks’ star Luka Doncic.

Somewhat surprisingly, Los Angeles Lakers’ maestro LeBron James was still ranked as the best player in the league according to the former players. He received 28.1% of the vote to beat out back-to-back MVP Nikola Jokic (21.2%) and another two-time MVP in Giannis Antetokounmpo (21%).

Former Warrior Kevin Durant finished fourth with 11.8% of the vote, while his controversial former teammate Kyrie Irving (2.2%) was the seventh and final player to be acknowledged. James, Durant and Curry are each at least 34-years-old, demonstrating the incredible longevity among arguably the three best players of the last decade.

Curry has already solidified himself as the greatest shooter of all-time, and most now consider him a top two point-guard of all-time alongside Laker legend Magic Johnson. His continued standing as a present top five player shows there’s still plenty of legacy to be built for the future hall of famer.
