Golden State Warriors’ wing Moses Moody has made a positive return to the G League, dropping 24 points in the Santa Cruz Warriors’ 127-110 loss to the Cleveland Charge on Saturday at Chase Center.

It was a slightly impromptu G League appearance for Moody having played for Golden State on Thursday and Friday. However, the 20-year-old played only 11 combined minutes in those matchups, with the Warriors closing with two wins to complete a 5-0 homestand.

With the Golden State Warriors expected to regain several key players, Moses Moody’s time in the G League could be extended over the coming weeks.

Moody had 24 points, six rebounds, one assist and two steals against the charge, shooting 9-for-20 from the floor and 4-for-8 from three-point range. He was a team-low -24 plus-minus as Cleveland ran away with the game over the final two-quarters. After a tight contest loomed with a two-point game at half-time, the Charge outscored the Warriors 67-52 in the second-half to record the 17-point win.

Having recently signed a 10-day contract with Golden State, Lester Quinones joined Moody with an equal team-high 24 points. The 22-year-old shot 7-for-14 from the floor and added five rebounds and three assists. Warriors rookie Patrick Baldwin Jr. wasn’t active, having been a late scratching from Golden State’s win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday with what Steve Kerr described as Achilles soreness.

Moody’s playing time with the main squad has been sporadic this season, and appears to be even more so as the Warriors are expected to welcome back a number of key players. Veterans Stephen Curry and Andre Iguodala are ‘probable’ to return against the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday, while Andrew Wiggins could return at any point as he deals with personal matters.

Santa Cruz have nine games between now and March 25 — don’t be surprised if Moody plays in a majority of those. It’s been a tough season for the 2021 lottery pick, but he can end it on a positive with some dominant performances in the G League.
