Four-time champion Draymond Green has bitten back at Grizzlies’ nemesis Dillon Brooks, with the Golden State Warriors preparing to face a hostile environment in Memphis when the teams face-off again on Thursday.

In an in-depth article by ESPN’s Tim Keown last week, Brooks unequivocally expressed his thoughts on the former Defensive Player of the Year. The 27-year-old stated, “I don’t like Draymond at all, I just don’t like Golden State”, before suggesting Green was simply a product of the Warriors system.

Golden State Warriors’ veteran Draymond Green hasn’t pulled any punches in letting rip at Dillon Brooks ahead of Thursday’s meeting at FedExForum.

In a fiery response on his podcast on Wednesday, Green begun by listing his accomplishments and suggesting Brooks would talk even more had he achieved similar. The 33-year-old then went on to blatantly question Brooks’ place on the Grizzlies roster amid their championship aspirations.

"“If you ever wondered why the Memphis Grizzlies are not ready to compete for a NBA championship, look no further than this idiot right here. They’re actually depending on this guy to help them win a championship… You run around talking about a dynasty? The dynasty starts after you, not with you."

Golden State and Memphis have built a growing rivalry over the past couple of years, though the results have largely gone the Warriors way aside from the play-in tournament in 2021. Brooks became public enemy number one among dubnation when he made a crude play that left Gary Payton II with a broken elbow during Game 2 of their second-round series last year.

The reigning champions would go onto win that series 4-2, although the Grizzlies would tell you they would have won had star point-guard Ja Morant not been absent for the final three games with a knee injury.

It’s not just Green and the Warriors who have beef with Brooks though, with the controversial guard having been involved in a variety of incidents. He missed Sunday’s loss to the Los Angeles Clippers after receiving his 16th technical foul, and it’s fair to say his form has been indifferent this season having shot less than 39% from the field overall.
