Paul George has been widely renowned as one of the best two-way players in the league across a decorated career with the Indiana Pacers, Oklahoma City Thunder, and now the Los Angeles Clippers. However, the eight-time All-Star has proven he’s not immune to an onslaught from Golden State Warriors’ superstar Stephen Curry.

Paul George has revealed his embarrassment after promising to lock down Stephen Curry in a recent matchup between the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Clippers.

Speaking recently on Podcast P, Presented by Wave Sports + Entertainment, George revealed his mindset heading into the Clippers’ recent matchup with the Warriors on March 15.

"“I called this dude yesterday leading up to the game, and I’m like – ‘Yo, I got Steph. ‘Bout to lock him down.’ He still don’t get it… So he’s like, ‘Who are you guarding?’ I’m like, ‘Bro, I said I’m gonna lock down Steph. I got Steph. I’m locked in.’"

George was supposedly locked in for the Curry matchup, only for the two-time MVP to drop 50 points in another insane shooting outburst. The 35-year-old shot 20-for-28 from the field, 8-for-14 from three-point range, and had six assists in a dominant performance. George and the Clippers got the last laugh though, posting 134 points themselves to claim an eight-point win.

It’s not the first time George has been on the receiving end of a Curry explosion, having watched on as he poured in 45 points in a matchup early last season. Curry averages 26.1 points on 44.4% three-point shooting across 21 career games against George.

There’s been a number of high-caliber NBA defenders that have been embarrassed by Curry across his 14-year career. That includes George, a two-time All-NBA Defensive First Team selection, who will still be called upon to try and stop the reigning Finals MVP over the next few seasons.
