Andrew Wiggins was back at Chase Center on Tuesday in a massive boost to the defending champion Golden State Warriors. The 28-year-old had been away from the franchise dealing with personal matters since his last game on February 13 against the Washington Wizards.

The Canadian joined General Manager Bob Myers in a press conference before the team’s monumental  win over the Oklahoma City Thunder. Wiggins appeared in good spirits as his team battles to secure a playoff spot with just two games remaining.

Head coach Steve Kerr says the Golden State Warriors will take it “day-by-day” with Andrew Wiggins as he prepares for his return from a lengthy absence.

Steve Kerr also spoke before Tuesday’s game, outlining that Wiggins’ return to the floor will be a “day-by-day” proposition. He confirmed the 2021 All-Star had been working out with assistant coaches earlier in the day, with his comeback somewhat murky given he’s not returning from a physical injury as such.

Kerr revealed last week that Wiggins had been working out on a daily basis during his absence. During Tuesday’s press conference, Wiggins himself detailed how he used it in part as a distraction to what he was going through personally.

"“I feel like working out, it’s a good thing to take your mind off what’s happening…You go out there and that’s what you focused on. I got a lot of shots up, lifted a couple of times. Mostly I was on the court getting a lot of work in.”"

This season has been an unprecedented one for Wiggins, with two separate significant periods away from the hardwood. He’s never missed more than a dozen games in any of his previous eight seasons, but a combination of injury and personal leave has seen him play in just 37 of the Warriors’ 80 games.
