Golden State Warriors provide injury timeline for veteran forward
The Golden State Warriors have provided an injury update on veteran forward Andre Iguodala, with the 39-year-old having been sidelined since suffering a fractured wrist on March 13 against the Phoenix Suns.
Many believe Iguodala’s illustrious career is over from a playing perspective, but the franchise is leaving the door ajar as they currently sit 2-1 down in their first-round playoff series against the Sacramento Kings.
Andre Iguodala remains an outside chance to return to the floor for the Golden State Warriors should they advance to the Conference Finals and beyond.
Iguodala had surgery to repair the injury and has since been taking on a coaching/mentor role with his experience a valuable resource come playoff time. While it’s unlikely he takes to an NBA floor again, the franchise has revealed his progression back to basketball activities.
"“He has started progressive rehab of the wrist and could be cleared to begin light ball handling and shooting drills in the next 7-10 days. He will be reevaluated again in two weeks.”"
After choosing to return to the Warriors for one last season after his fourth championship in 2022, Iguodala played just eight games and failed to make an impact on the floor having dealt with multiple injuries.
He had two different playing stints during the regular season, with the latest injury having come after five consecutive games where Iguodala was finally starting to build some momentum. In the same game he sustained the wrist injury, he had six points, two rebounds, three assists and was a +19 in an 11-point win.
Iguodala will remain an onlooker for now as Golden State prepares for Game 4 against Sacramento on Sunday afternoon. Should they advance past the Kings, they’ll face either the Los Angeles Lakers or Memphis Grizzlies in the second-round with that series currently tied 1-1.
