Golden State Warriors provide optimistic update on Andre Iguodala
The Golden State Warriors are yet to rule out a return for veteran forward Andre Iguodala, with the 39-year-old continuing his recovery from a fractured left wrist sustained against the Phoenix Suns on March 13.
The defending champions’ win in Game 7 of their first-round series not only ensured the continuation of their season, but also gave Iguodala an outside chance of returning to the court once more before his inevitable retirement.
The Golden State Warriors have provided an optimistic injury update on Andre Iguodala, with the former NBA Finals MVP nearing a return from a fractured wrist.
The Warriors will need to push past the Los Angeles Lakers as well should Iguodala want to complete his return. Golden State provided an update on the 19-year veteran ahead of Game 3 with the series tied at 1-1.
"“Warriors forward Andre Iguodala, who suffered a fractured left wrist on March 13 against the Phoenix Suns, has been cleared to intensify his on-court workouts and is expected to participate in team practices at some point next week.”"
After choosing to return to the Warriors for one last season after his fourth championship in 2022, Iguodala played just eight games during the regular season with the load of 19 years in the league taking a serious toll on his body.
Iguodala’s place on this roster was always much more about his playing capacity though, with his experience and leadership proving invaluable. That’s only increased during the playoffs with the four-time champion a constant presence on the Warrior bench.
Iguodala will remain an onlooker for the second-round series against the Lakers, but he could return for the Conference Finals should the Warriors advance. Golden State would face either the Denver Nuggets or Phoenix Suns, with the former holding a 2-1 advantage after three games.
