3. Klay Thompson
Klay Thompson will go down as one of the greatest shooters in NBA history. But at 33 years old, coming off multiple significant injuries, it’s easy to see his limitations at this point in his career as a star player. This is not to say that Klay is not good anymore. He’s still a very good player. The days of wondering whether he could be a No. 1 on another team are virtually over, though. Klay is great at his current role with the team – as a No. 3 or 2, depending on where you stand on the Klay vs. Wiggins debate.
Nevertheless, he’s still quite the trade asset for the Warriors. While he may no longer be in the prime of his career, he’s still coming off a season in which he averaged 22 points and four rebounds on 44 percent shooting from the field and 41 percent shooting from 3-point range. If the Warriors were to test his trade value this offseason, nearly the entire NBA would be interested. Or at least they should.
With just one year remaining on his contract, it’ll be interesting to see the Warriors effectively add value to his current form. Depending on his new contract, that will also set the market for his trade value moving forward.
