2. Andrew Wiggins

The quiet part that doesn’t often get said out loud when it comes to the Golden State Warriors is the fact that Andrew Wiggins is officially the second-best player on the team. That much was evident last season when the Warriors made their championship run and then this season when everything suddenly changed for the team in the playoffs when Wiggins made his return from an extended absence.

Only playing in 37 games in the regular season, Wiggins still managed to average 17 points and five rebounds on 47 percent shooting from the field and 40 percent shooting from 3-point range – all while having to guard the opposing team’s best player on most nights. Considering that Wiggins also just re-signed and is under contract for at least the next three seasons, possibly four, at a reasonable number (under $30 million per season), there’s reason to believe that he has emerged as the second-best trade asset for the Warriors.

If the Warriors went into the offseason in search of another superstar, there’s no question that a trade package would likely have to be built around Wiggins (assuming Curry would be off the table). I’m not sure many expected that to happen when he was acquired from the Minnesota Timberwolves a few years ago.
