Following a disappointing second-round exit at the hands of the Los Angeles Lakers, the Golden State Warriors face a critical inflection point after a nine-year run that’s yielded four NBA championships.

Now more than ever, the Warriors’ decade-long dominion feels like it may have run its course. Golden State faces a slew of major roster decisions this offseason, and the man responsible for laying the foundation of a dynasty, Warriors general manager and president of basketball operations, Bob Myers, is uncertain about his future with the organization. Stephen Curry’s MVP-like play has kept the pressure on the front office to surround their franchise player with a championship-level team, but doing so means that the Warriors will have to make some tough choices.

The Golden State Warriors have a lot on their plate this offseason, but fans can sleep at night knowing that Draymond Green wants to be a Warrior for life.

Following a blowout defeat in Game 6, Draymond Green sat at the podium to answer questions from the media. When asked about his future in Golden State, Green seemed to have his mind already made up.

"”I want to be a Warrior for the rest of my life,” Green told reporters postgame. “I want to ride out with the same dudes I rode in with. I think we’ve put the work in to make that happen.”"

Per a report by The Athletic’s Shams Charania and Anthony Slater, Golden State have already begun discussing a multi-year contract with Green, either via opt-in and extension or a brand new deal. Unsurprising, considering his invaluable impact on the Warriors organization for well over a decade and counting.

Just as Stephen Curry is the offensive captain — the man through whom every action starts and stops, Draymond Green is Golden State’s anchor on defense. The former Defensive Player of the Year has such a deep understanding of the game that he’s almost manipulative in the way he defends. Green is always ten steps ahead — his lateral quickness and defensive instincts make him a nightmare for opposing offenses. He can flat-out take over a game defensively, making a play on a seven-footer at the rim one minute, and locking up a 6’3 guard out on the perimeter the very next.

Beyond his impact on the court, Green is the heart and soul of the Golden State Warriors. He is unapologetically Draymond Green, and his passion for the game inspires his teammates to elevate their play and match his intensity.

Next. Golden State Warriors: Youngster’s potential trade request would be near unprecedented. dark

The Warriors wouldn’t quite be the same without him, and whether Bob Myers returns or not, extending Green will certainly be a top priority for Golden State.
