Star No. 1: Paul George, LA Clippers

If the Warriors are going big-game hunting, they should at least place a phone call to the Los Angeles Clippers. Most likely they will be told Paul George is not on the trade market, but there is at least a slim possibility that the phone call lasts a bit longer than that. After yet another disappointing season ending with injured stars, the Clippers may be open to changing the theory of their attack.

If nothing else, Jordan Poole is a player who stays healthy, playing in 76 games a season ago and all 82 this past year. More likely, however, the Clippers would flip Poole for another player whom they feel fits better, all the while saving some of the added draft capital to restock their barren cupboards.

Could the Warriors truly go all-in, trading every available draft pick and swap to add an injury-prone star? It’s absolutely a risk, but the reward is great. Paul George is an elite shooter and scorer, giving the Warriors a truly elite backcourt trio, but he is also a great wing defender. The Warriors could realistically aim for a top-tier defense while boasting four 20-point scorers in the starting lineup. They may very well enter next season as the title favorites.

In the end, none of these stars are guaranteed to be available, and none of these teams are guaranteed to be interested in the trade packages that the Warriors can offer. Nonetheless, these are the kinds of moves the Warriors have to look into; it only takes one to turn an underperforming guard into a tentpole star to help the Warriors make another run for the NBA Championship.
