Golden State Warriors’ Steve Kerr and Draymond Green reveal key Miami adjustment in Game 2 win

The Miami Heat outscored the Denver Nuggets 36-25 in the fourth quarter to close out a gigantic road victory in Game 2 of the NBA Finals, tying the series at one game a piece.
Nikola Jokic did his best to carry his Nuggets squad, posting 41 points, 11 rebounds, and four assists, but even a 28-point second half wasn’t enough as Miami held on for a crucial win to steal home-court advantage.
Bam Adebayo led the way for Miami, tallying 21 points, nine rebounds, four assists, and two blocks, while shooting 57.1% from the field. Jimmy Butler notched 21 points and nine dimes, while Gabe Vincent added 23 points of his own.
Following Game 2, Golden State Warriors’ duo Steve Kerr and Draymond Green broke down the key adjustments that allowed the Miami Heat to even up the NBA Finals with the Denver Nuggets.
Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr joined his former Defensive Player of the Year on the latest episode of ‘The Draymond Green Show’. Among a myriad of discussion, Kerr highlighted Miami’s strategy to limit Jamal Murray’s production after he lit them up for 26 points and 10 assists in Game 1.
To start Game 2, Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra opted to start Kevin Love in place of Caleb Martin, giving Miami more size up front to handle Jokic and allowing Jimmy Butler to take on the Murray assignment on defense.
Save for some big shot-making down the stretch which almost stole the game for Denver, Spoelstra’s game-plan worked as Murray was held to a mediocre 18 points on 7-15 shooting from the field. His final numbers are nothing to scoff at — 18-4-10 is a respectable line in any NBA Finals game — but he failed to impact the game in the same way he did Game 1.
A back and forth affair ended in a chaotic finish as Denver trailed Miami by just three points with 10 seconds left and with possession, but Murray’s game-tying three-point attempt rimmed out as Miami escaped with the win.
The Heat will host the Nuggets in Game 3 of the Finals on Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. E.T.
