Golden State Warriors: 2 teams who could have significant interest in Jonathan Kuminga
Indiana Pacers
The Indiana Pacers hold a talented young roster centered around their first-time All-Star Tyrese Haliburton. They’re far from a finished product though and probably have a year or two of rebuilding left before they hit genuine playoff contention.
Their current roster is bereft of starting-level power-forwards and although Kuminga hasn’t reached that level quite yet, they’re a team that could give him the opportunity to become just that.
Kuminga could form a deadly defensive tandem with Myles Turner, while the latter’s three-point range could atone for Kuminga’s perimeter shot which often goes disrespected despite a decent percentage.
According to 8 Points, 9 Seconds’ Joe Lyon, “Kuminga perfectly fits many of the needs of the current Indiana Pacers roster.” The community has already discussed a Kuminga deal that would see the Warriors receive pick seven in this year’s draft for the 20-year-old and pick 19.
That seems the most appropriate deal on the table. There’s very few players on the Indiana roster they’d either be willing to attach in a deal, or whom Golden State would hold interest in. Turner’s always been an intriguing thought in The Bay but his contract is probably a little awkward from a Warrior perspective.
Like with the Wizards and pick eight, the question really comes down to whether the Warriors would be comfortable with that pick, or whether they’re hellbent on acquiring a selection in the top six if they are to move on from Kuminga.
