Trade up to No. 7

The Indiana Pacers have been rumored to be open to trading the No. 7 pick. With a need at the power forward position, would the Pacers be open to taking a shot on Jonathan Kuminga, who has shown flashes of potential through the first couple of years of his career? The Warriors would have to also include the No. 19 pick and a future first-round pick. To move up 12 spots in the first round, it’s going to prove to be costly.

But moving up to No. 7 would almost guarantee the Warriors a shot at targeting Cam Whitmore or Ausar Thompson, whichever is still on the board, and could open the door for a player like Jarace Walker or Taylor Hendricks. Moving up this high would be costly and I’m not sure how the Warriors would feel about moving a future first-round pick for this type of move.

The larger point is that there is at least a pathway to moving up to No. 7 for the Warriors, under the assumption that the Pacers would be open to a package centered around Kuminga. This possibility could ultimately come down to how high the Warriors believe it needs to move up to snag their target.
