3. Portland Trail Blazers

The Trail Blazers are a team that’s stuck between rebuilding and building a championship-level team around Damian Lillard. The team’s biggest weakness is their defense which ranked as the third-worst in the league this year. Acquiring Draymond Green would be a significant upgrade to their roster, with his defensive prowess and versatility providing a much-needed boost. He has the ability to effectively guard positions one through five, while also offering rim protection. With Green’s presence, Portland could address their interior defense concerns and elevate their overall defensive performance.

Unlike the potential fit of Green with the Los Angeles Lakers, the offensive dynamics in Portland would be less awkward. The Trail Blazers already have deadly sharpshooters in Damian Lillard and Anfernee Simons, and adding Green to the mix would not only enhance their defensive capabilities but also introduce another dimension to their offense. Green’s secondary playmaking skills would be valuable, bolstering the Blazers’ offensive fluidity and diversifying their scoring options.

However, the ultimate question remains — to what extent would this revamped Portland team become a championship contender? It raises uncertainties about Green’s intentions this offseason as well.

"“I want to be here, but I also understand that this is a business, and I know the business side of it and the penalties that lie ahead with the new CBA. I know all of those things; I think winning is worth it, and I know we still will win,” Green said about his situation on The Draymond Green Show."

After facing elimination in the second-round of the NBA Playoffs, would Green be willing to join the Trail Blazers more so for financial reasons, ultimately departing from the Warriors to pursue a new chapter with a franchise that may have a lower ceiling?

It appears more and more likely that Golden State will retain Green, particularly after the Poole-Paul trade on Thursday. Nevertheless, the future remains uncertain, leaving us with unanswered questions and a sense of uncertainty about what the future holds.
