In a move that very few saw coming, the Golden State Warriors flipped Jordan Poole and the remaining years on his contract for one year of Chris Paul after he was traded to the Washington Wizards for Bradley Beal.

Trading Poole was on Warriors fans’ radar heading into the offseason but acquiring CP3 was not something that was forecasted. Paul is certainly past his prime and on paper, he does not look like the best schematic fit in Golden State’s system.

Great basketball minds always figure it out and if there is one team that can maximize Paul at this stage of his career it is the Warriors. But if the team wants to give him some additional help, the Dubs may look to add some affordable free agents who have prior experience playing with the future Hall of Famer.

3 former Chris Paul teammates the Warriors could sign in free agency:

1. Damion Lee

Damion Lee isn’t just a former Chris Paul teammate, he is a former member of the Warriors as well. Lee left the Warriors after the 2022 championship season and signed a one-year deal with the Phoenix Suns.

There, Lee put together the best season of his career and was one of the best three-point shooting role players in the sport. In 3.3 attempts per game, Lee shot 44.5% from beyond the arc last season. That was a big jump from the 33.7% he shot the year prior with the Dubs.

Lee might have played himself above the league minimum and if that is the case then he is going to be out of reach for the Warriors. If not, he would be a solid depth addition that at the very least can provide a regular-season scoring option off the bench.

For those unaware, Lee is also married to Stephen Curry’s sister, Sydel Curry. Why not follow Paul back to the Bay Area to once again chase a ring with his brother-in-law?
