3. T.J. Warren

If there is one thing that the Golden State Warriors are really good at it is finding diamonds in the rough and getting contributions out of players that were unexpected. There are countless examples of role players coming to the Warriors and improving only for them to regress once they leave Steve Kerr’s system.

Mix that formula with a role player that has proven he has a high ceiling but has not been able to stay healthy and get a runway to continue playing at that level and there could be something special. That is exactly the situation with T.J. Warren.

Warren showed in the 2020 bubble that he can be a legitimate difference-maker that can swing a playoff series as a microwave scorer. Injuries have slowed him down since and he has not been able to re-find that form. That being said, he is still only 29 so the ship has not sailed on that possibility.

The Warriors can absolutely afford to sign T.J. Warren in free agency

Warren, who CP3’s teammate for a very short amount of time in Phoenix, shouldn’t go for more than the veteran minimum. That is what he got from the Brooklyn Nets last summer and he didn’t really do anything this past season to warrant a larger pay day.

Warren played 42 forgettable games as he was not a big part of either rotation. In the playoffs, he averaged just 13.5 minutes per game for the Suns. That doesn’t scream pay raise after the injuries he has had.

It might not work out for the Warriors and that is fine, he would be a veteran minimum signing. But if it does, the team may have someone who could replace Poole’s scoring off the bench for another title push.
