With a revitalized win-now attitude after the acquisition of 38-year-old, 12-time All-Star Chris Paul, the Golden State Warriors enter this free agency period under a significant amount of pressure to retain and build upon a championship-contending roster.

The Warriors currently have 10 contracted players for next season, six of which are classified as guards. There’s currently a lack of frontcourt options, an area they’ll need to address starting with the re-signing of former Defensive Player of the Year Draymond Green.

Armed with little financial flexibility, the Golden State Warriors will have to be specific in meeting their need for forward depth this offseason.

Retaining Green is just the beginning though, with Golden State needing to add shooting to a frontcourt that desperately missed Otto Porter Jr. after his departure to Toronto during the corresponding period last year.

There is a number of options that could become available to the Warriors, particularly given they’re probably a little more attractive to ring-chasing veterans following the Paul trade.

Let’s take a look at five possible forward options for Golden State in free agency –

5. Danny Green

If the Warriors are going to trade for one of their most unliked rivals in Chris Paul, then why not go all-in by targeting Danny Green in free agency? At 36-years-old and not long removed from an ACL injury, Green is likely gettable on a minimum deal.

While he’s been a quality three-and-D role player at his best, there’s now genuine question marks on his ability to be a rotation piece to a good team. His brief stint upon return last season showed he could still shoot — 43.2% from three-point range in 11 regular season games — but the perimeter defense part is more suspect and unsurprisingly so.

Still, the Warriors value shooting and Green has that in spades. Combined with his championship experience, it wouldn’t be a disaster to see him in a Golden State uniform next season.
