Former Golden State Warriors’ duo Patrick Baldwin and Ryan Rollins have made their debut for the Washington Wizards, undertaking key roles in the team’s Summer League opener against the Indiana Pacers on Saturday night.

Less than a month after they were traded by the Warriors in a blockbuster draft day trade, the pair played over 45 minutes combined as they showed some positive signs despite the Wizards’ 91-83 defeat.

Ex-Golden State Warriors Patrick Baldwin Jr. and Ryan Rollins each scored in double figures to open their careers at the Washington Wizards.

Rollins started alongside Johnny Davis in Washington’s backcourt, recording 11 points, two rebounds and two assists in nearly 19 minutes of action. He shot 5-for-13 from the floor and 1-for-3 from three-point range, also committing four turnovers.

Baldwin played over 26 minutes despite coming off the bench, showing no fear in shooting the ball like we saw in his time with the Warriors. He had 13 points, four rebounds and three blocks, shooting 5-for-11 from the field including 2-for-7 from three-point range.

The trade involving the pair became official earlier in the week, with Golden State sending Baldwin, Rollins, Jordan Poole and future draft capital to Washington for 12-time All-Star Chris Paul and the 57th overall pick which they used on Trayce Jackson-Davis.

Baldwin, the 28th overall pick in last year’s draft, was impressive in his 31 games for the Warriors during his rookie season. He shot 38.1% from three-point range, which combined with his 6’9″ size makes for an intriguing prospect for the Wizards going forward.

Rollins had an injury-interrupted first season with Golden State after being taken with the 44th in the draft. He played just 12 games with the main team, spending the majority of time in the G League before a foot fracture ended his season in early February.
