It is very likely that the Golden State Warriors play next season with Chris Paul a regular part of their rotation. Whether he starts, closes or simply runs the bench unit, he is one of the greatest point guards in NBA history and his steady presence could be a huge boon to the Warriors as they pursue another title.

It’s also very possible that the Warriors are open to trading Paul to another team, or even actively desiring to. When they lost Kevin Durant in 2019 they worked hard to get back D’Angelo Russell, with their primary plan to retain the asset and trade him midseason. They did, which is why Andrew Wiggins and Jonathan Kuminga are on the team now.

Chris Paul is a $30 million contract that can be used as matching salary in a deal, whatever you think of his ability to play at a high level right now. That’s the Warriors’ best path to trading for another star. They haven’t exactly gone above and beyond to show that Paul is a part of the fold. Could CP3 be on the move again?

Who could the Warriors trade Chris Paul for?

Basketball fan site Bleacher Report recently wrote about five chaotic trades that could blow up the 2023-24 NBA season. The Warriors make the list, with a deal that would use Chris Paul in a deal to bring back an All-NBA forward. Let’s look at this transaction of chaos and see whether it makes sense for both sides.
