5. Norman Powell

Powell has been mentioned in trade rumors this offseason after averaging 17.0 points, 2.9 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 0.8 steals in 26.1 minutes per game last season. The 6’3 wing is comfortable coming off the bench or starting and is a career 38.6 percent 3-point shooter. He provides instant offense and can be a difference-maker in the second unit.

Powell still has three years at $57.7 million remaining on his contract. Any trade between the Clippers and Warriors takes a third team because both are over the second tax apron. Neither team can take back more money in a trade than they send out, and the contracts never match up perfectly.

If things with Chris Paul are not working out, the Dubs will need offense in their second unit. Gary Payton II, Jonathan Kuminga, and Moses Moody are not known for their scoring or playmaking chops. Golden State will need a point guard in return or a sixth-man scorer that can create offense.

Norman Powell would provide the Golden State Warriors with an offensive boost, but his defense is below average. The Dubs traded Jordan Poole in part because of his lack of D, which could limit their interest in Powell. Do not rule it out if the franchise dumps Chris Paul, but consider it unlikely.
