3. Andrew Wiggins

Wiggins has changed the narrative since arriving in the Bay Area. The 6’7 forward played in just five playoff contests with the Timberwolves over his first five years in the league. The former number-one overall pick was an inefficient scorer who failed to become a superstar. Minnesota even gave up two draft picks to trade Wiggins to Golden State for D’Angelo Russell.

Three things drastically improved with the Dubs. Wiggins’s defense reached a new level. He had the size and athletic ability, but the 28-year-old is locked in on that end of the floor to become a plus option. Wiggins went from shooting 33.2 percent from 3-point range in Minnesota to 38.6 percent with the Dubs. His scoring went down, but his shooting efficiency improved across the board.

The Golden State Warriors do not win the title in 2022 without Andrew Wiggins. He was a key rebounder and defender throughout their run. His versatility allowed the Dubs to go small and stretch the floor. Wiggins was no stranger to matching up against the opposition’s best scorer and made crucial contributions on both ends.

He is just starting a four-year $109 million extension that features a player option in 2026. The Warriors are not finding a 28-year-old wing that can make the same impact, which makes Wiggins untouchable.
