2. Klay Thompson

Could the Warriors trade Klay? He is entering the final year of his contract, and there is work to do on an extension. Thompson would have to take less than the $43.2 million he makes this season if wants to remain in the Bay Area long-term. The Warriors would love to keep him, but the repeater tax makes every dollar more costly.

Even without an extension, Golden State isn’t trading Klay. The five-time All-Star has been a starter and key part of their four championships. There was worry that back-to-back ACL and Achilles injuries would impact his career, but Klay’s offensive game was back last season. He averaged 21.9 points and shot 41.2 percent from 3-point range while setting a new career-high in rebounds per game.

Thompson is not the same defender, but most 33-year-olds lose a step on that end of the floor. He is still impactful and a key part of their game plan. Golden State may be hesitant to give him a massive contract, but it will be hard to say no to such a key piece of their dynasty.

Expect Klay Thompson to stay with the Golden State Warriors for the foreseeable future. There is just too much history to let him leave the Bay Area.
