Grading Starters v Lakers

Chris Paul (B)

Can’t have asked for much more across nearly 13 minutes in his debut game. The 38-year-old knocked down his first mid-range jumpshot to get things started, before settling into a classic Chris Paul game where he controlled the offense effectively with five assists. Also added four rebounds which will be crucial if he is to work sufficiently alongside Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson in smaller units.

Stephen Curry (C)

Made two of his five-three point attempts in nearly 13 minutes. The two-time MVP looked like the usual Stephen Curry, albeit didn’t get the opportunity to totally dominate. Had a nice combination with Paul and also made some defensive plays with three steals.

Klay Thompson (C)

Wasn’t shy in letting the ball fly, putting up seven threes of which he made two. The shooting stroke wasn’t quite there, yet the rebounding was a feature with four boards and had some nice defensive moments including back-to-back stops on Rui Hachimura during the second-quarter.

Andrew Wiggins (D)

The Canadian was active but didn’t quite finish off his opportunities. Had six points on six shots including just 1-4 from the three-point line. Got to the line on four occasions yet missed three. Added three rebounds for good measure.

Kevon Looney (C)

Standard reliable 13 minutes from Looney, finishing with four points and five rebounds (including two offensive). Got hurt by Davis on a few possessions but also had some nice defensive possessions. Rock solid as usual.
