76ers’ next proposed move would deliver Warriors another painful blow

Another source of frustration...

The Philadelphia 76ers have been the villian for the Golden State Warriors this offseason. They traded for Jaylen Brown after the Warriors had conversations with the Boston Celtics, before signing LeBron James in a bombshell free agency move.

Now Philadelphia could deal Golden State another painful blow, with the franchise urged to round out their roster by reuniting with former guard Seth Curry who remains unsigned after an injury-plagued year in the Bay.

76ers could deliver another Warriors blow with Seth Curry signing

The 76ers need more off-ball shooting to complement their additions of Brown and James, leaving Nicolas Kyle Pring of The Sixer Sense to float the younger Curry brother as an option toward the end of the offseason.

"The former 76ers guard is not only familiar with Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey, but he is also someone who can serve a double purpose of helping fix the team's shooting woes while also solidifying the backcourt," Pring wrote.

While Curry may no longer be the high-level role player he once was, and though the Warriors may not have any interest in bringing him back for a second year, seeing the veteran sharpshooter head back to the 76ers could cause some real frustration next season.

For starters, there's a strong chance Curry is far more healthier than during his lone season with Golden State where he appeared in only 10 games. If that proves to be the case, then what we saw from Curry in those 10 games suggests he can still be a very useful rotation player.

The 35-year-old still averaged 7.1 points and shot an absurd 48% from 3-point range on 2.5 attempts in his limited court time, preserving his status as one of the best shooters in the league alongside older brother Stephen.

76ers can afford to take a chance on Seth Curry

Perhaps the Warriors have concluded they can't take a risk on another injury-prone veteran, having already re-signed the likes of Kristaps Porzingis, Al Horford and De'Anthony Melton earlier in the offseason.

Yet given their stocked with so much on-ball talent, the 76ers are well positioned to take this sort of swing on a player like Curry. Should he continues to struggle with his body and overall availibility, there's far less downside for Philadelphia compared to Golden State who will already begin the season with two key players sidelined by injury.

The Warriors and their fans should wish Curry the best, but there'd be no shortage of annoyance if he ultimately signed with the 76ers and returned to being the consistently helpful player he couldn't be for Golden State.
