Stephen Curry's future has become a source of speculation in the wake of LeBron James' rejection of the Golden State Warriors, with the Boston Celtics regularly mentioned as a potential suitor if the two-time MVP was to consider ending his career outside the Bay Area.
Curry's former Warrior teammate D'Angelo Russell has been the latest to push the franchise superstar into a Boston move, but the argument quickly falls apart even if the 38-year-old did contemplate a trade.

Speaking on The Backyard Podcast, Russell made the case for Curry to join Jayson Tatum at the Celtics in the hope of finishing his career with far more relevance than what the Warriors currently appear to be offering.
...Who's taking the load off him in Golden State? The rookie? Is Jimmy... oh yeah, healthy Jimmy. I mean, is Jimmy going to be healthy though?" I just think I would love to see him in green somewhere and him and Tatum and Paul George taking on the league. That'd be sick," Russell said.
The first problem with Russell's argument is that he's suggesting Curry, Tatum AND George would be on the same team. That simply wouldn't be the case as the latter would have to be involved in a deal to make the finances work, with George having only been acquired last month in the bombshell Jaylen Brown move to the Philadelphia 76ers.
Beyond the structure of a trade that Golden State would likely never agree to, there's also the debate on whether Boston would actually be the best place for Curry to try and win an historic fifth championship.
Jayson Tatum still faces injury concerns after torn achilles
Russell questions Jimmy Butler's return from a torn ACL which is absolutely fair, and the Warriors should have done more this offseason to prioritize the end of Curry's career. However, if that leads the 12x All-Star to consider a trade away from Golden State, wouldn't he want somewhere that offers a little more guarantee than Boston?
There are still some injury concerns surrounding Tatum after only recently returning from his torn achilles, and having ended this year's playoffs on the sidelines due to knee soreness. As much as Tatum will enter next season healthy while being far younger than Butler, does Curry really want to jump from one injured star to another who's only recently returned from one?
This is an implausible scenario for so many reasons, making Russell's wish one that will likely never come close to reality, and one that can be crushed instantly if Curry signs an extension with the Warriors at the end of the month.
