As the dust settles on the Golden State Warriors missing out on the likes of Giannis Antetokounmpo, LeBron James and Kawhi Leonard this summer, veteran forward Draymond Green is already teasing fans with the franchise's next superstar dream that has next to no chance of happening.
The Warriors have positioned themselves this offseason to be a major player in free agency next year, and there's no bigger superstar that could hit the market than three-time MVP Nikola Jokic.
Draymond Green teases fans with impossible Nikola Jokic dream
Speaking during his latest podcast episode on Thursday, Green alluded to recent chatter around Golden State pursuing Jokic with their projected cap space next summer.
"Got the Joker coming into Dub Nation," Green said alluding to the Christmas Day matchup between the Warriors and Nuggets. "There's been a lot of talk about Joker in San Francisco as of late, I've been reading. I'm sure they'll be a ton of talk by then, by Christmas Day, depending on how the teams are doing."
The Warriors could certainly have enough flexibility to offer Jokic a max contract next offseason, but it's incredibly difficult to see him leaving the Nuggets, let alone landing with Golden State who've now swung-and-missed on a myriad of stars in recent years.
It's one of those moves that no one should believe possible until it actually happens. Jokic will likely opt out of his $62.8 million player option to become an unrestricted free agent next summer, but don't mistake that for anything else than signing a mammoth new extension with Denver that reaches five years and nearly $360 million.

The only world in which Golden State could truly enter the conversation is if Denver suffers an almighty collapse that causes Jokic to legitimately consider a future outside the Mile High City.
Even if they fall short of matching the Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs, and subsequently making a return to the Western Conference Finals, it's hard to envisage the Nuggets falling enough to the point where Jokic believes the Warriors would offer a better opportunity at on-court success.
Golden State could give Jokic the opportunity to play with Stephen Curry, but by that point the two-time MVP will be 39-years-old and why would the Serbian superstar have a different opinion to others who've rejected the Warriors recently?
The Warriors could wind up with signifcant cap space to drastically revamp their team next offseason, but starting at the top of the pool with Jokic feels like an impossible dream that's hardly worth discussing.
