Nothing to smile about for Golden State.

The whole Kristaps Porzingis saga has turned into a nightmare for the Golden State Warriors. They signed him to a two-year contract that paid him $20 million in the first year only has $3 million guaranteed for the second season. Yet the fact that he is out with this "mystery ailment" and was recently spotted in Spain getting veneers is just such a gut punch for Golden State.

A user on Reddit posted a screenshot of an Instagram picture of Bruno Pereira, a guy who does veneers in Mallorca, posing with Porzingis. The caption reads:

"Always a pleasure to treat a champion 🏆Great having @kporzee in the chair - NBA champion, gentleman, and proof that big smiles come in big sizes. #facialflow#veneersmarbella#smiledesign"

Kristaps Porzingis appears in Spain as Warriors season gets underway

Porzingis has a big grin on his face and it's clear that he had some enhancements done in the teeth department. It looks like he's putting the money the Warriors are giving him to good use, but it begs the question: why is he getting his teeth fixed in Spain instead of playing basketball?

Now Porzingis has dealt with serious health issues in the past. The POTS ailment that has dogged him is a serious issue and it sounds like it has really made it difficult for him to play in recent seasons. Still, the optics of being in a different country getting his teeth done rather than being around the Warriors or even at the facility trying to rehab is just difficult to stomach.

Jimmy Butler and Moses Moody are both coming back from injury and will not return until later this season at the earliest, yet they have both been around the team and have been on the bench for some of the team's games. It's fair to wonder why Porzingis cannot do the same unless he simply doesn't want to come back and play for the Warriors.

There is reporting that he is mulling retirement and the fact that the Warriors are open to trading him makes sense, but what team is going to want to give up anything for a guy who seems like he doesn't really want to play?

Warriors will likely have a tough time trading Porzingis

In a way, it's ironic that Porzingis has proven to be such a big issue, especially since the Warriors thought they were getting rid of a problem when they dealt Jonathan Kuminga and Buddy Hield to the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for the former All-Star.

Instead, the headache has remained, it has just taken a different form. If Porzingis doesn't want to play again that's more than fair, but the fact that he's hanging out in Spain instead of being around the team, all while Golden State continues to pay him, is just a slap in the face and has to be so frustrating for the Warriors.
