5 Klay Thompson trades the Warriors must consider if his play doesn't improve

3. Warriors add a star with size
Pascal Siakam may be the best player available at the deadline. The two-time All-Star is in the middle of his prime and averaging over 20 points per game for the fifth straight year. He has struggled to find his jumper and is still figuring out new head coach Darko Rajakovic’s system. It has not stopped his production, though. Siakam wants to stay in Toronto, but there have been no extension rumors.
If the Raptors decide to move on, there will be no shortage of suitors. Golden State needs to add some size. Siakam would give them another switchable playmaking forward who can run their offense. Playing him next to Draymond Green might hurt their spacing, but championship teams add talent and figure it out.
This would be an all-in move to get Siakam’s Bird Rights. He could be the bridge between the Stephen Curry era and what is next in the Bay Area. Siakam turns 30 in April and figures to have at least three more years left near the top of his game. The Warriors title window will be closing by that point and Siakam can help lead the next group.
The Toronto Raptors would take Klay Thompson as a matching salary, but it would cost Golden State two first-round picks. This would be a virtually all-in move, and Siakam is not the cleanest fit. The Warriors would prefer a star wing and may be able to land one from a California rival.
