The Golden State Warriors have officially cut ties with former Chicago Bulls big man Lachlan Olbrich despite an impressive summer league campaign with the team that resulted in a championship.
ESPN's Olgun Uluc reported on Sunday that Olbrich has signed a one-year deal in Japan, putting a halt to his career in the NBA and any chance of the 6'8" big man competing for a two-way contract and/or playing for the Santa Cruz Warriors in the G League.

Olbrich averaged 13.3 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists in less than 19 minutes off the bench across three games at the California Classic, showcasing his ability to handle the ball combined with soft touch finishing around the rim.
The Australian's numbers dipped to just 6.4 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.2 assists across five games in Las Vegas, but that was partly due to a minor injury concern that saw him miss a game and a half and undoubtedly limited his impact thereafter.
Nonethless, Olbrich had done enough for many to consider him a potential invitee to training camp where he could have competed for Golden State's vacant two-way spot. The Warriors currently have LJ Cryer and Malevy Leons occupying two spots, but have yet to sign a third two-way player.

Originally the 55th overall pick of the Los Angeles Lakers last year, Olbrich's draft rights were instantly acquired by the Chicago Bulls with whom he signed a two-way contract with last July.
The 22-year-old averaged just 2.4 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.1 assists during his rookie year, but notably had a triple-double in the final game of the regular season where he posted 10 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists against the Dallas Mavericks.
Warriors could look at Graham Ike on two-way contract
This Olbrich news is promising signs for Golden State's starting center during summer league, Graham Ike, who also impressed and could now have an open door to the third two-way position.
With Cryer and Leons offering depth at the guard and forward positions respectively, it would make sense for the Warriors to have a center on the third two-way contract, particularly given injury/health concerns surrounding veterans Kristaps Porzingis and Al Horford.
Ike averaged 10.0 points, 7.2 rebounds, 1.9 assists and a block over nine summer league games, including going for six points, nine rebounds and three assists in the Championship Game against the Memphis Grizzlies.
