NBA 2K ratings always provide a source of debate for fans leading into a new season, and that's no exception in the latest iteration of the game which could fuel some extra motivation for a number of players at the Golden State Warriors.
The new ratings haven't been particularly kind to the Warriors, especially when it comes to their two best players in Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler, along with prized lottery pick Yaxel Lendeborg.
Curry is unsurprisingly the only Golden State player above 90, while Butler and Kristaps Porzingis are the only above 80 on a roster consisting largely of players between 73 and 79.

Stephen Curry's decline
Curry was a 95 in NBA 2K26, dropping two points while still remaining a top 10 player in the league per the ratings. The drop comes despite the two-time MVP actually increasing his scoring by 2.1 points from the previous season, while his field-goal percentage improved slightly and his three-point percentage remained steady at nearly 40%.
Perhaps Curry has been hit by the fact a late-season knee injury limited him to 43 games, while the 38-year-old wouldn't have been aided by Golden State going from a second-round playoff team to missing the playoffs entirely last season.
Jimmy Butler's injury impact
Speaking of injuries, Jimmy Butler dropped from an 88 to an 85 almost exclusively it seems on the back of his torn ACL injury. The six-time All-Star actually increased his scoring, rebounding, field-goal and three-point percentage through 38 games last season, before suffering the brutal injury against the Miami Heat in January.
Whether fair or not, perhaps this is a projection of what Butler will be once he returns from injury this season, rather than an assessment on who he was prior to injury where he was averaging 20.0 points, 5.6 rebounds and 4.9 assists on over 50% shooting from the floor.
Yaxel Lendeborg's summer league falls silent
Those making the ratings decisions clearly made them prior to summer league where Lendeborg was mightily impressive, having led the Warriors to the championship while also winning tournament MVP.
Lendeborg already appears like a young player who's going to enter the league with a chip on his shoulder, and this is just another motivating factor for the 11th overall pick who will set about lifting his 73 rating rather quickly.
Warriors got roster move wrong?
Golden State finally signed a pair of previously rival players late last month, adding Brandon Williams and Georges Niang on minimum contracts. However, Williams' deal is completely non-guaranteed until opening night, as opposed to Niang who has a little more security with half his salary guaranteed.
These 2K ratings would suggest the Warriors should have gone the other way and at least partially guaranteed Williams' deal. The former Dallas Mavericks guard has a 76 rating after a career-best year where he averaged 13.0 points and 3.9 assists, while Niang has fallen to a 71 after missing the entirety of last season through injury.
