The Golden State Warriors have completed their 15-man main roster on Tuesday after signing Georges Niang to a one-year, $3.9 million contract according to ESPN's Shams Charania.
The signing comes on the same day the Warriors also signed Brandon Williams to a minimum contract, completing the main roster after what had been a slow free agency period before Tuesday's proceedings.
Warriors reunite with Georges Niang in final roster move
It's a reunion of sorts between player and franchise after Niang appeared in 26 games for the Santa Cruz Warriors in the G League back in the 2017-18 season. He's since become a reliable forward on multiple different teams, having built his reputation in Utah before stints at the Philadelphia 76ers, Cleveland Cavaliers and Atlanta Hawks.
Niang missed the entirety of last season due to injury, before being waived by the Memphis Grizzlies in February after his inclusion in the blockbuster Jaren Jackson Jr. trade. He did however appear in 79 combined games in 2024-25 with the Cavaliers and Hawks, averaging a career-high 9.9 points while adding 3.4 rebounds and shooting 40.6% from 3-point range.

The 33-year-old has seemingly won the final roster spot over Kelly Olynyk, with the Warriors showing interest in both players as floor-spacing frontcourt options in recent weeks. This appears the right decision given Olynyk's lack of impact with the San Antonio Spurs last season, while Niang can at least point to injury wiping out his year.
Golden State will now be hoping Niang can get back to being the player he had been over the previous five seasons. He's a career 39.9% 3-point shooter and should immediately become one of the more reliable shooters on a Warrior team that ranked 20th in 3-point percentage last season.
Georges Niang could step into rotational role for Warriors
It's questionable whether Niang fits into a fully healthy Golden State rotation, but injuries to Jimmy Butler and Moses Moody suggest he could step into a meaningful role off the bench from opening night in October.
Niang could be the backup power forward behind Draymond Green, while his shooting could be helpful in lineups alongside the former Defensive Player of the Year. With Green, Yaxel Lendeborg, Gui Santos and now Niang, the Warriors have a reasonable forward combination for Steve Kerr to utilize even in the absences of Butler and Moody.
Niang averages 7.4 points and 2.5 rebounds across 544 career NBA games, while he also joins the Warriors with 56 games of playoff experience with the Jazz, 76ers and Cavaliers.
